ArcheAge Chronicles Longsword Build

Longsword: a Warrior weapon with its own skills and trait tree.

Updated

Early Access is live. We are updating this page from launch-week patch notes, player reports and creator videos; changes land in the change log.

Class pairing: Official· XLGAMES / Steam

The Longsword is one of the two Warrior weapons at Early Access. It is the weapon Creative Director Jay Lee played in XLGAMES’ official PvP footage.

How the Longsword plays

Jay Lee wrote in the October PvP post that one of the most fun parts of those fights was parrying ranged attacks and reflecting them back. MMORPG.com’s Warrior introduction says the Longsword has two paths. The first is about timing, precision and control: defend, parry incoming strikes, and pressure enemies. The second is the “path of blood”, which gives immense power at the cost of sacrifice, turning part of your own health into damage and then absorbing enemy HP in a cycle.

A sensible approach is to treat the Longsword as the timing weapon of the Warrior. If you like parrying and punishing, start here. The Greatsword is the front-line alternative. See the Warrior guide.

Known skills and trait paths

Officially, XLGAMES has not named a Longsword skill. Its progression post states that the Longsword tree is completely separate from the Greatsword tree, with its own paths and unlocks.

According to MMORPG.com, the named skills are Closing Clash and Bladeburst, which uses energy to strike enemies close and at range. The article gives no more detail on Closing Clash. Every weapon type has its own trait tree, and trait points come from Raeven’s Coilstones, each placed near a powerful boss, not from level. Nodes may give stat boosts, brand-new skills, or changes to how an existing skill works. XLGAMES says point costs and tree layouts may change with feedback.

Stat points for a Longsword build

The Longsword is a physical weapon, so Strength is the stat that raises physical attack. A sensible approach is to stack Strength first, since each point is a flat +1. Agility adds crit chance and some physical attack, which suits a precision playstyle. If you try the path of blood, Constitution (HP) is worth a look, because that path spends your health. XLGAMES has not published recommended numbers.

What we are still collecting

Early Access is live. We are adding the following from public sources as they appear, each with a link and a date:

  • What players say each Longsword path unlocks and how costly the path of blood is.
  • Creator and player views on parry timing for solo leveling.
  • Closing Clash and Bladeburst effect text from patch notes or player reports.
