ArcheAge Chronicles has servers in North America, Europe, Asia, Brazil and Singapore, and the game picks your region automatically from your location. Each zone is split into channels of about 100 players, so you do not share one copy of the world with the whole server.
How to check server status and queues
XLGAMES has not published a server status page or a queue tracker. As of November 4, 02:00 UTC, its Early Access launch announcement does not mention queues or maintenance. These are the official places to watch for outage and maintenance notices, all linked from the Steam store page and that announcement:
- Steam news for ArcheAge Chronicles: store.steampowered.com/news/app/3218230. Every XLGAMES notice so far, including server changes, has been posted here.
- Official X account: @ArcheAgeChron.
- Official Discord: discord.gg/archeagechronicles.
Steam’s public player count is a rough health signal, not a queue length: it showed about 25,000 players online at 02:01 UTC on November 4, according to SteamDB’s player charts.
If you cannot get in, check your own client first. These are player reports from launch day, not XLGAMES fixes:
- A black screen on the first launch is usually shader compiling. Landing-System’s launch guide says to wait 5 to 10 minutes and not kill the process.
- Some players report error 0xE0191009 after a long black screen (Steam discussion).
- Some players fixed a crash at character select by running the game as administrator (Steam discussion).
Temporary maintenance (official)
XLGAMES announced temporary maintenance to resolve the issues affecting the game. It is scheduled for November 4 at 09:00 AM PT (17:00 UTC) and is estimated to take about 2 hours. The game is unavailable during maintenance, and XLGAMES says the schedule may change and any updates will be posted in that notice.
Known launch-day issues (official)
On November 4, XLGAMES posted a notice on key launch-day issues. It gave no patch date. This is what it says:
- Fixes ready, date to be announced: some tutorial quests that blocked progress, and bosses that stop spawning if you leave the area and come back.
- Under investigation: the Malchuk boss not reappearing, or no respawn, after you die in the fight; quest progress breaking after talking to NPCs in some areas, including Cliffs of Madness; progress blocked when the party leader leaves or the party disbands during a dungeon.
- Party workaround from XLGAMES: keep your party together until everyone has moved on to the next area after a dungeon. Some key items are not shared, so each member should pick up their own key.
- Stuck in terrain: press ESC and choose Escape. If that fails, restart the game, log in again and try Escape once more.
- Anti-cheat stuck on startup: send a screenshot to XLGAMES Customer Support, also reachable by pressing ESC in game.
- In progress: freely rebindable movement keys, an option to hide the chat window, and clearer rules for the party channel-transfer button. Until then, filter chat languages under Settings > Game Options > Chat Language Filter.
- Next patch: some crash fixes. Optimization for stutter and frame drops will continue through Early Access.
- Not supported: Linux and Steam Deck are not officially supported for now. More languages are under review with no plan announced.
Pick your server carefully: characters cannot transfer between servers during Early Access, and players on different servers cannot group, according to XLGAMES’ server transfer notice.
Regions
XLGAMES described the Steam Next Fest demo as running worldwide with servers in North America East and West, Europe Central, and Asia East and South. After the demo it added two more:

- Brazil. A server physically in Brazil, announced in a Steam notice on October 23. It was temporarily listed under the NA category in the server menu.
- Singapore. Producer Ham’s October 29 letter says servers were added in Brazil and Singapore.
The same letter says your region is now selected automatically based on your location, and region labels on the server selection screen are clearer. XLGAMES has not said whether you can pick a different region by hand.
Datacenter cities
XLGAMES’ own posts do not list datacenter cities. MMORPG.com, summarizing the producer letter, listed Virginia and Oregon in the US, Frankfurt for EU West, Singapore, Hong Kong, Seoul, and Sao Paulo for Brazil. Treat those as MMORPG.com’s list, not an official one. We will replace them with names from XLGAMES or player reports as they appear.
Channels, not one big world
When you log in, you are not dropped into one giant copy of each zone. XLGAMES said in its PvP post that each zone is split into channels, which are separate instances with their own groups of players.
- A typical channel holds about 100 players. That is a design choice, not a hard server limit, according to the post.
- You do not choose your channel. The game places you in one.
- If you are in a party, you stay together as you move between zones. If you and a friend end up in different channels, you can hop over to join them.
- Dungeons and some points of interest are instanced for just you or your party.
Channels also decide PvP rules. Standard channels block player attacks and PvP channels allow them. See the PvP guide.
Playing with friends
Producer Ham’s October 29 letter says parties now stay together across Peace and Conflict channels, invites work across both, and you can move straight to your party leader’s channel. Because your region is picked from your location, friends on different continents may land on different regional servers. XLGAMES has not said how cross-region play works, so check the server select screen in the client.

Chat and language
Steam lists English, Korean with full audio, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. After the demo XLGAMES added a chat language filter for Region and World channels.
Server transfers
XLGAMES confirmed in a Steam notice on November 2, 2026 that once you create a character on a server, you cannot transfer that character to another server during Early Access. XLGAMES said it may look at a transfer feature later, but it cannot confirm if or when.
Players on different servers cannot play together. If you plan to play with friends, agree on one server before anyone creates a character.
Disconnects
Dungeon and instance progress now survives a disconnect in every Early Access region, according to the same letter.
Not announced yet
XLGAMES has not said the number of servers per region, server names, or how queues are handled. We will add these once XLGAMES or player reports provide them.
