ArcheAge Chronicles Price and Editions

Updated

Early Access is live. We are updating this page from launch-week patch notes, player reports and creator videos; changes land in the change log.

ArcheAge Chronicles costs $29.99 on Steam in the US, with no discount listed. It is a paid game, not free to play. An XLGAMES press release says it is buy-to-play, with no in-game store planned for the Early Access launch and says pay-to-win items will not be sold.

Steam lists a single paid package, which is the base game with the pre-order costume. As of our November 2, 2026 check, no Founder’s Pack or other edition appears on the store page. That is a snapshot, not a promise that none will be added. Prices in other currencies are set by Steam, so check your own store page.

Pre-order bonus

XLGAMES said in its October 27 Steam post that each pre-order includes one Dawn Pioneer Set, an exclusive costume set, for a single class of your choice. You can claim it in game now that Early Access is live. The post calls it available only as a pre-order bonus, and XLGAMES has not said whether it will return later.

A sensible approach is to decide your class before you claim it, since the set covers one class only. See classes for the four options.

Is it buy-to-play?

Yes, according to a press release carried by Games Press on October 7, 2026. In the release, Executive Producer Yongjin Ham said ArcheAge Chronicles will be buy-to-play, with no in-game store planned for Early Access launch. He added that “pay-to-win systems were never part of our vision” and that XLGAMES will never sell pay-to-win items.

The release also says optional purchases that may come after Early Access could cover additional content, customization and convenience. If a store arrives, XLGAMES said it would announce the timing and item types in advance. The Steam FAQ itself does not repeat the no-store line, so treat the press release as the source.

Will the price change?

Possibly. XLGAMES said in the Steam Early Access FAQ that the price may change at full release to reflect additional content and improvements, and that it will announce any change in advance. Early Access is expected to last about 9 to 12 months. XLGAMES has not said what the full-release price will be.

If you are deciding when to buy, the only official information is that a change would be announced first. A sensible approach is to buy when you plan to play, since we cannot predict a price move.

Early Access caveats

Steam’s description of Early Access applies: features can change and the game will keep updating. The first post-launch update is planned for December 2026 and should add a female Warrior and the Gladius. Demo progress does not carry over to Early Access.

What is not known

  • Regional prices beyond the US listing.
  • Whether any launch-week discount will appear.
  • Whether other editions will be sold later.
  • The cost of future cosmetic or content purchases.

We will update this page the moment Steam or XLGAMES changes any of the above.
