Class pairing: Official· XLGAMES / Steam
The Greatsword is the Warrior’s front-line weapon at Early Access. It is also the weapon XLGAMES used as its official example of how trait trees work.
How the Greatsword plays
MMORPG.com says the Greatsword is for players who prefer the front line: advance through enemies, withstand attacks, build up Resolve, then unleash devastating attacks. A sensible approach is to start here if you would rather absorb pressure and strike back than parry. The Longsword is the timing-focused alternative.
Known skills and trait paths
Officially, the progression post names these Greatsword skills and paths:
- Damage branch: unlocks Armor Break, and changes the existing skill Sunder into Sweeping Slash, which hits twice instead of once with a broader cleave arc.
- Defensive branch: adds Pummel Strike, an attack you can use while guarding that grants a shield to absorb damage.
XLGAMES says both builds are viable and come down to playstyle. According to MMORPG.com, Greatsword attacks after building Resolve include Final Cleave, Rampage and Warrior’s Cry. The article does not describe them further. Every weapon type has its own trait tree, and trait points come from Raeven’s Coilstones, each placed near a powerful boss, not from level. Nodes may give stat boosts, brand-new skills, or changes to how an existing skill works. XLGAMES says point costs and tree layouts may change with feedback.
Stat points for a Greatsword build
Strength raises physical attack, so a sensible approach is to start there. If you take the defensive branch, add Endurance for stamina and defense, or Constitution for HP and crit resistance. Since a point always buys one stat, you can try a split and check the character screen preview, which shows attack and crit changes before you commit. XLGAMES has not published recommended values.
What we are still collecting
Early Access is live. We are adding the following from public sources as they appear, each with a link and a date:
- How Resolve builds and what it does, per patch notes and player reports.
- Which branch, damage or defensive, players favour for solo play.
- Final Cleave, Rampage and Warrior’s Cry effect text from official or player sources.
