Highest of our readings, last 24 hours10,140
Lowest of our readings, last 24 hours9,454

Highest and lowest are the highest / lowest of our hourly Steam readings in the last 24 hours (2 readings). They are not Steam's official 24-hour peak.

Trend

There are not enough readings yet to call a trend. We need at least 12 readings in each 24-hour window and have 2 in the last 24 hours and 0 in the 24 hours before.

Compared with launch

  • Against our first reading (12,016 on Nov 5, 02:00 UTC, Steam API): the current reading is down 15.6%. The two readings fall at different times of day, so this is a rough comparison.
  • Against the 30-day peak of 18,659 listed by SteamCharts (reported, third party, read on Nov 7): the current reading is 54.3% of that peak. A peak is a single best moment, so a normal hour sits below it.

What this number is

It is the count of Steam accounts that have ArcheAge Chronicles running at that moment, across every region and server, as returned by Steam’s public player-count API. It is not a queue length, not a server status and not a measure of how full any one channel is. Players who bought the game outside Steam, if any, are not in it. For server problems and maintenance, see the server status page.

Why the number moves during the day

Steam counts players who are online right now, so it rises and falls with the time of day in the regions where most people play. A reading taken at 02:00 UTC is not comparable with one taken at 14:00 UTC. That is why we compare the average of the last 24 hours with the 24 hours before it, and why single readings on different hours of the day should be read with care.

How we measure it

Once an hour our own script asks Steam’s public API for the current player count and stores the number with its UTC time. This page is rebuilt from those stored readings. We do not estimate, smooth or predict anything. A missing hour stays missing: the chart leaves a gap instead of drawing a line across it.

  • Highest and lowest are the highest and lowest of our hourly Steam readings in the last 24 hours. They are not the official 24-hour peak, because a peak can fall between two of our readings.
  • Trend compares the average of our readings in the last 24 hours with the average of the 24 hours before. Within 5% either way we call it roughly flat. With fewer than 12 readings in either window we do not call a trend.
  • First reading is the earliest reading we stored, 12,016 players on Nov 5 at 02:00 UTC, about a day after Early Access opened.

Other places to check

  • SteamCharts lists a 30-day peak of 18,659 players (reported, as read on Nov 7). It is a third-party site and its figures can differ from ours.
  • SteamDB keeps player charts with 24-hour and all-time peaks. It is also a third-party site.
  • The raw Steam Web API returns the current number if you want to check us.
